Kyrie Irving is now a huge issue that the Cleveland Cavaliers have to deal with. Irving asked for a trade and the Cavs almost have to oblige in order to ease the friction in the Cavs locker room. Lebron James has barely spoken to Kevin Love since the NBA Finals. Apparently Kyrie and Lebron have a rocky relationship highlighted by Irving’s request.

Kyrie is labeled  as ungrateful because he wants to be the main focal point. People are confused  thinking Kyrie wants to be the best player on the team. Kyrie Irving no longer wants to live in Lebron’s shadow. Lebron is one of the greatest players to ever live. Kyrie cannot help to be overshadowed in a sense. However, Kyrie Irving want’s to be the focal point in a sense of respect.

Since Lebron James has returned the Cleveland Cavaliers have treated Irving with disresepect. Cavs organization has even put Kyrie in trade scenarios forgetting Kyrie signed an extension with the Cavs prior to Lebron returning. Irving has always been committed to the Cavs but the Cavs have not been commited to Kyrie.

Evidence of the Cavs disregard for Irving came when the King returned suddenly Irving became a disposable commodity. David Griffin only had one mission to please King James. Cavaliers forgot about the star that they drafted and the one who stuck by them when the King exited.

Where Cleveland Cavaliers Should Send Kyrie Irving

Cavs  have decisions to make in order to get the best possible trade value. Kyrie Irving has expressed interest in being traded to the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves or San Antonio Spurs. Each possible trade has it’s pros and cons for the Cavaliers. Miami Heat essentially have nothing to deal besides Dion Waiters and Hassan Whiteside. Cleveland cannot make a viable deal that will end up in a win-win. Dion Waiters had a terrible relationship with Lebron. Hassan Whiteside does not fit into the teams small ball scheme. Miami is the least likely team to land Irving.

New York Knicks is another team on the wish list of Irving. A few weeks ago the deal would have worked for Melo and Kyrie Irving straight up. Carmelo Anthony has expressed exclusive interest in playing in Houston. Melo would most likely not waive his no trade clause to go to Cleveland. Even if Carmelo did waive the no trade clause Melo would not want to be associated with the Cavs drama. Cleveland would also have to concede that they do not have enough to win a NBA title.

Minnesota Timberwolves are a huge landing spot for Kyrie Irving. Kyrie would be the leader on the team with championship and 3 straight finals experience. Cavaliers could finagle a deal to get Jimmy Butler in exchange or other star prospects and draft picks. Timberwolves may not want to blow up their Nucleus but Kyrie may be the star they have been looking for. Minnesota is a viable option for a trade that will leave both parties happy.

Best Choice For Cleveland

San Antonio Spurs are the Team Cavaliers should make the deal with immediately. Both organizations have disgruntled star players in Lamarcus Aldridge and Kyrie Irving. The contracts for Irving and Aldridge line up beautifully. The Deal allows for the players to get what they want compete for a championship.  Mike Krzyzewski, Irving’s college coach,  is hard nosed coach it would be a seamless transition to Gregg Popovich.

Gregg is very familiar with Kyrie, Popovich Coached Irving on team USA. Cavaliers can get great value by piecing together Kyrie and Love for Danny Green and Lamrcus Aldridge packaged with a few role players. Both teams walk out happy from the deal. Lebron James still has a viable team to compete. Spurs will have two young stars between Kawhi Leonard and Kyrie Irving.

This NBA offseason is filled with endless possibilities. Cleveland faces a difficult road and no one envies the Cavs at this point.  Cavaliers have to fix this dysfunction immediately.
