Cavs are finalizing a deal with Derrick Rose for 1-year $2.1 Million. Derrick Rose was initially sought after to be a back up point guard. Kyrie Irving threw a monkey wrench in the Cavaliers planning with his trade demands. Nonetheless Derrick Rose is a welcome addition to Lebron James who welcomed Rose with open Arms.

Lebron James and the Cavaliers could use some welcome news. Cleveland Cavaliers are without a General Manager. David Blatt was unable to secure Chauncey Billups to replace David Griffin. Cavaliers were unable to land Paul George or Jimmy Butler in a deal. Carmelo Anthony has lost immense interest in the Cavs after their locker room stirrup.
Can Derrick Rose Calm the Storm?
Derrick Rose is walking into one of the most volatile situations in his career. Rose must try to right the ship for the team. New York Knicks enjoyed a healthy Derrick Rose who played 64 games. Derrick averaged 18 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists. Rose left a positive impact on the Knicks squad and played 32.5 minutes per game.
At $2.1 Million Cleveland is getting Rose at a steal. Tyronn Lue will have a learning curve pairing LeBron James and Derrick Rose. Unfortunately, both players are not great three point shooters. Lue will have to devise a plan that will allow both players to attack with proper spacing. Lebron will make the game easier for Derrick so maybe the shots that he didn’t make in New York he will get them more wide open in Cleveland.
The Derrick Rose trade has one plus Cleveland is getting a better defender. Often times Kyrie would fall asleep on the weak side of the ball. Rose rarely makes those mistakes and has a lot of rebounding prowess. Derrick is a former MVP who knows how to lead a team in many regards. Leadership will be key as the Cavs look to right the ship and make things “Rose-ier”.
